Some places can cheer your mood up and also fill your mouth with taste. Soy Yum is one of those places. We were so satisfied with this place, their food is absolutely amazing. I really want to try more items from their kitchen. We tried Ukon Sakura (Chicken), Kakuni Yakitori(Pork), Karaage Gyoza (Japanese style fried dumpling) and Biscoff Cheese cake. All those tastes heavenly. My husband ordered O Ren and that drink is too refreshing. Loved this place. The staff are also very polite and attentive despite the place was a bit crowded at that time they took much care to listen, serve, and suggest properly.

Absolutely pathetic experience — never setting foot here again. What was once a decent impression has turned into a complete disaster. The staff and kitchen are clearly not trained or capable of handling a full house. We waited over an hour for our food, only to give up and leave without touching our mains. One of the two starters that did show up tasted bland and careless, like it was thrown together in a rush.We left quietly, but almost every table around us was equally frustrated — some even refused to pay service charges. If this is how the place operates on weekends, then it’s obvious they don’t care about repeat customers.Eating out is supposed to be enjoyable, not an exercise in patience and disappointment.

Soy Yum had been on my wishlist for a while and finally got to try it. The taro bubble tea was hands down the best boba I’ve had in Calcutta with generous amount of boba, and it also looked very pretty.the dim sum, Japanese gyoza and pork belly yakitori were excellent. Gyoza had a crispy frill, which made it perfect, and the pocket belly had the perfect meat to fat ratio. But the tempura was oily and disappointing and had very basic vegetables. The Korean wings felt very generic, and the tonkatsu ramen was the biggest letdown with a flat broth and broken bits of chasu. Dessert (tiramisu) looked pretty but was very average, had better at Pico and Fabbrica. Service was polite but no one asked for feedback. The ambience, however, is beautiful and luxurious. Mixed experience overall – I’ll return for their drinks and maybe breakfast, but never for ramen.
