If you happen to be near Shree Gayatri Temple, you can visit this restaurant. The cooks here prepare tasty chicken and good fish. Food delivery is a big plus of Soma's Gourmet. If you want to enjoy cool service, you should go to this place.
Soma's Gourmet kitchen is a hole in the wall bong joint in Khar. The food is great. They mostly focus on deliveries. Dining in, is best avoided. I was brave enough to dine in there. Twice. The ambience is spartan, and, i am being charitable here. Service is first rate as you are likely to be the only patron. They have a busy party order & delivery scene, i am told. I have had Mangsho Kasha, Rui Bhaja, Begun Bhaja & Sukto. The dishes have always been spot on. These guys know how to cook their bengali dishes. After all, they have Odia cooks doing the cooking. You had best call in advance and order to order some of the more exotic dishes on the menu. If you decide to walk in, there will only be fast moving dishes like Mansho Kasha etc. Do give them shot. They serve good authentic bengali food. Better than, Oh! Calcutta in terms of the taste and load on the wallet.
Food is excellent.... Love their mutton roll, egg roll and chicken and egg roll, they have tiffin service too... I liked everything I tried here. Not for in dinning though...area not OK, nor the restaurant ....
Home delivery is best even if its very slow
Must try for all Bengali food lovers
A small outlet near the Khar station, this place serves up light and authentic Bengali food for the aficionados around. We ventured out here on a weekend afternoon, and found out that it was right next to a desi alcohol shop. That would be a turnoff for anyone, and I guess that is why people treat this only as a takeaway shop.
However, we were least bothered about such things, especially when hit by a Bengali food craving, and we settled in and ordered for Rice, Musur Daal, Aloo Bhaja, Aloo Posto, Luchi, Kosha Mangsho, Rui Jhol and Ilish Shorshe.
The preparations were quite good - the daal and aloo bhaja being a simple delight, the Aloo Posto perfectly made, the Luchi and Kosha Mangsho being as good as ever. The Rui Jhol was simple and tasty and we devoured it with rice, while the Ilish Shorshe was good but could have been better.
We learned that they prepare the more elaborate items on prior order, and for the next visits we shall have that in mind. best of luck! Probably the only place in Bombay which serves home-styled Bengali food, which is up to the mark.
