I had dinner at Simply Kodavas in Mysore, a restaurant that specializes in Kodava (Coorg) cuisine. I was quite excited to try this place, as Coorgi food has a unique taste, and Mysore has a good number of places serving regional delicacies. Starting with the positives, the restaurant was very clean and well-maintained. The ambiance was simple yet pleasant, making it a comfortable spot for a quiet meal. The staff were polite, friendly, and attentive, which is always a plus when dining out. They welcomed me with a warm smile and made sure the service was smooth throughout my visit. Despite these positives, the restaurant was surprisingly not crowded. I visited during dinner hours, expecting a decent turnout, but it was relatively empty. While this made the dining experience peaceful, it also made me wonder about the overall popularity of the place. Coming to the food, it was clean and had a decent taste, but it didn’t really blow me away. The flavors were mild, and while the dishes stayed true to the Kodava style, I felt they could have been a bit richer in taste. The quality was undoubtedly good, but the portions were where I found a real issue. The quantity of food served was quite limited, and I didn’t feel fully satisfied after the meal. For the price they charge, I expected more generous portions. Speaking of pricing, I found it slightly on the higher side compared to similar restaurants offering regional cuisine. While I don’t mind paying a premium for good food, the combination of small portions and above-average pricing made it feel like I wasn’t getting the best value for money. Overall, I would say Simply Kodavas is a clean, well-managed place with polite staff and authentic Kodava food. If you’re looking for a peaceful dining experience with traditional Coorgi flavors and don’t mind the portion sizes, this could be a good option. But if you want a hearty, satisfying meal that feels worth the price, you might want to explore other places in Mysore.
