I visited this restaurant for the first time after frequently going to Pai Tiffins, and unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience here. The food was average at best—I'd rate it 5/10, but I’ve seen people hyping it up as if it’s a 9/10. I ordered the North Indian meal combo, and honestly, it was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The rice was dry, and the curries lacked flavor. What really ruined the experience was the staff’s behavior. They were extremely rude. One server, in particular, was very disrespectful. I politely asked for extra rice and rasam, and though I was told it would cost extra (which I was fine with), his tone and attitude made it seem like I was asking for charity. When I asked for curd, he rudely said in Kannada, "ಇದು free ಅಲ್ಲ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಹಣ ಆಗ್ತದೆ" ("This is not free, you have to pay for it")—which I found very unprofessional and insulting. I understand that restaurants charge for extras, and I was willing to pay, but there’s a way to communicate with customers. No one expects free food at a restaurant—we all come prepared to pay. It's the tone and treatment that matter. I hope the management seriously looks into how the staff treats customers, as this kind of experience can really drive people away. I’ll get to the point straight !! **The wheat flour is infested with red beetles** We had ordered a South Indian meal, It came with 3 puris, out of which one I ate hurriedly since I was hungry after waiting in KMC for hours! But when I looked at rest 2 , they were completely infested with red beetles. 5-6 crushed , in both the puris, when I informed the management ( it was AC section , where you expect a slight more hospitality in a hotel which charges 20-30% more for AC services ) the out rightly said it doesn’t look like beetles , and they decided to get me two new puris! As if I should believe the atta was brand new here !!! Ofcourse I understand it happens at our home kitchen where we don’t make chapatis or puris everyday , but this is the hotel in bustling side of Manipal with daily turn outs of more than 2000 people for breakfast, lunch , dinner. I refuse to accept the cook/chef didn’t know of it ! The hygiene maintenance is so poor that 5-6 beetles in a single roti is overlooked! All I needed was apology ! But I was asked if I’d like to carry the two puris home!? Well now I think I should have brought it to test in lab. I hope the message is clear ! SERVE RIGHT FOOD !!! And yep I paid full price, cause hey atleast compensate and just throw out the infested atta . Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

I recently came across this place when I was in manipal. From the outside it looked like a happening place, so I decided to have my breakfast here and I must say this was the most sensible decision I took. The food here was amazing especially the paneer masala dosa, it was paired with sambhar and coconut chutney and this was one of best dosa I have eaten in quite sometime. Perfect portion size and add that to the perfectly blended spices with a touch of sweetness in the sambhar made this dosa a moment to savor. The staff here was extremely kind enough to answer each of my queries, and the manager here was very friendly with each guest entering into the restaurant. All and all a pleasant experience with Shree Shanthi Sagar restaurant. Highly recommended place to visit if you are in Manipal.
