Rose Soda Shikanji + Dal Ka Chilla @ Shibuji, Kolkata ?
Harrowed by the arid weather and continuously driving for 2 hours, sans any water at hand and absolutely parched throat, we found solace at the age old popular roadside shop famous for soda shikanji, masala Thums Up and the likes.
I opted for Rose Soda Shikanji. Served in a big kulhar and infused with enough ice cubes, it looked like a bliss and tasted yum. It provided an instant cure to my dehydration.
We further bought a plate of Dal Ka Chilla from one of the street food vendors nestled on the opposite footpath.
The Chilla was expectantly well cooked, fresh and tasty. The accompanying chutneys - mint and garlic were expectantly old and sour.
Our visit to Shibuji was quite impromptu and after ages, but it was worth it.
