During my recent trip to Vadodara on 23rd May 2025, I stumbled upon Shalimar Restaurant (શાલીમાર રેસ્ટોરન્ટ) while out to buy water bottles. Located on the ground floor of Prestige Complex, opposite HDFC Bank in Sayajiganj, it was a convenient find—especially since I didn’t feel like taking an auto to go somewhere far just for dinner. I was initially thinking of ordering Domino’s or something familiar, but this local spot caught my eye with its affordable pricing. They had a Special Punjabi Thali for ₹130 and a Gujarati Thali for ₹110, along with other items like individual sabzis, rotis, and rice. I opted for the Punjabi thali, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The food came quickly and included Dal Fry, 5 Butter Rotis, Paneer Sabzi, Chole, Salad, Papad, Chaas, and Rice. For the price, the quality and quantity were great—I'd rate the food 4/5. Service was prompt and polite, which added to the experience. That said, the place is small and a bit congested, and cleanliness could be improved. I wouldn’t recommend it for families or groups, but if you're alone or staying nearby and want a decent, budget-friendly meal without traveling far, it’s a solid option. I'd rate cleanliness 3.5/5, atmosphere 3/5, and parking is usually manageable on the street, especially at night.
