I recently visited Shahi Bhoj Thali Restaurant in Pune, and the dining experience was truly delightful. Their thali offers a wide variety of dishes that showcase authentic flavors. The spread included Shev Bhaji, Moong Dal Sabzi, Paneer Curry, Baingan (Brinjal) Sabzi, Bhindi (Okra) Sabzi, Rajasthani Dal, Kadhi, and Chhole. On the side, they served a small tangy pizza, a mini samosa, and dhokla accompanied by mint and sweet chutneys. For breads, they offered roti and bajri bhakri, topped with jaggery and ghee, which added a rich and traditional touch to the meal. In the rice section, they served plain jeera rice and a flavorful khichdi infused with clove. Additionally, the thali included dahi vada and rabdi, both of which were delicious. For beverages, they offered chaas (taak) and jaljeera, which perfectly complemented the meal. At last in sweets they served jilebi, and some kind of green halwa. I really enjoyed all the dishes — each had its own unique flavor, and nothing tasted repetitive or overly similar. However, I did find the Shev Bhaji and khichdi slightly on the saltier side. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I truly enjoyed the food. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy a traditional and flavorful Indian thali.
