We recently dined at this place and found the experience to be underwhelming, especially considering the hype and pricing. • Mutton Biryani lacked the rich aroma and stickiness you’d expect. The mutton itself was bland and didn’t carry the usual depth of flavor. • Mutton Kothukari felt more like a generic thokku and missed the distinct taste of mutton entirely. • Pichu Potta Nattu Koli was tasty, but it’s clear this wasn’t made with authentic country hen, which was disappointing for those expecting the real deal. • Dosa, Idly, and Veg Sambar were decent – nothing exceptional but acceptable in taste. • Non-Veg Kuruma stood out and paired well with plain white rice – definitely one of the better parts of the meal. • Chicken Biryani was just average and didn’t live up to expectations either. Overall, the food didn’t match the heavy marketing hype. While a few dishes were okay, the overall taste and authenticity were lacking. Given the quality, the pricing feels on the higher side. We had an amazing experience at Selvi Mess, Salem. The food was absolutely delicious! We tried the chicken pichupota fry, mutton fry, chicken pepper dry, parotta, and mutton biryani—everything was packed with authentic flavor and cooked to perfection. The mutton was tender, the spices hit just right, and the parotta was soft and flaky. The place is very well maintained with ample parking, which made things so convenient. What stood out even more was the attentive and helpful staff—they were polite, quick, and made sure we were comfortable throughout. Highly recommended if you’re in or around Salem and craving a proper non-veg feast! Price per person: ₹800–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
