Had a lovely experience at the Saptapadi. We ordered the special fish thali and portion was enough for 2 people. All item preparation was excellent. The ambiance was good and the service provided was very nice.

Our visit to Saptapadi on Poila Boisakh evening was, unfortunately, quite disappointing. While we were excited to try their Bengali cuisine and ordered a variety of dishes — including the special fish fry, aam pora shorbot, lebu lonka litchi drink, basanti polao, mutton kosha, bhetki paturi, plain rice, sorshe pomfret, and shukto — the overall experience was marred by several issues. Right from the start, we felt rushed to place our order, which affected our dining experience. Even more concerning was the unhygienic sight of used, uncleared plates piled up at the entrance — not something you’d expect from an established restaurant. The most shocking moment came during our meal when we discovered a small cockroach in the basanti polao. We immediately brought it to the staff’s attention. While they did replace both the polao and mutton kosha, what truly disappointed us was the complete lack of an apology or any acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation. After that, we couldn’t bring ourselves to enjoy the rest of the meal and decided to end it early, paying the full bill and leaving. I’ve attached images to this review for reference. While some leniency can be extended for taste on a busy festive evening, hygiene is absolutely non-negotiable. I sincerely hope that the management of this reputed Bengali cuisine chain takes this feedback seriously and improves their cleanliness and customer service standards.
