One of the oldest and most loved restaurants in town! They’re famous for their fish curry meals, and rightly so. The flavors are authentic and comforting — just like home. Their fish perattu is absolutely amazing, and the meen mutta fry!!! Oh my God, it’s soul food — I loved it to the core!!! It’s a non-AC setup, but surprisingly comfortable inside. The restaurant is small, yet serves some of the most delicious Kerala thalis you’ll find. The rice was perfectly cooked (which says a lot!), and every side dish was full of flavor. And I can’t not mention their kappa — so good and cooked just right! The staff are super attentive, friendly, and genuinely seem to care about feeding you well. The place is clean and well-maintained too. They’re open till 10 PM. It’s located in the basement of a shopping complex, so parking can be a bit tricky — but you can usually find street parking on the opposite side. Being a trivian, Sagara Restaurant is not a new try for me. This time when i landed Trivandrum,i was really missing the seafood and came here. As usual, they didn’t fail in welcoming us nicely and ordering is not at all a hard task as the staffs are so good in recommending us the best options. We tried Kanava thoran, Karimeen Pollichathu and Prawns Puttu. The puttu was so soft and prawns masala was so yummy. The Kanava thoran which they served first was finished before the Puttu came and so it turned into a good starter. And the Karimeen masala again was awesome. Comparing with other seafood restaurants, the prices are slightly on the higher side, but obviously worth it for the food they serve. They even arrange juices or shakes from nearby options in very less time. The ambience and seatings are ok, not that awesome. But for me this place is always in my favorites.
