We were strolling down the HKV lane and saw the board of RUMBAR with outdoor sitting. We entered the place, it was empty. We asked for an outside table but it was really congested so we sat inside. They had reddish/ pinkish lightening with some Latin music at a low volume and shelves with some books as well. We ordered one RUMBAR CLUB SANDWICH with Cappuccino. The portion of the Sandwich was enough for two people and it was served with French fries, whatever we ordered was delicious. Only one negative point which we noticed that the staff is not energetic otherwise we had a great time.
So, it was my birthday and i didn't want the usual loud music bars. So after an extensive research on Zomato, i found two places -- Rum Bar and The Art Bar. We reached The Art Bar but it was dead. Without any further delaying, we headed straight to Rum Bar.
This place is very charming. Very convenient to find, and the best part is that it is divided into two areas - bar and dining. The interior was very pretty, nice use of fairy lights, hand painted motifs on the wall, book shelves. Everything was very welcoming. For smokers, please do not worry about the freezing cold, there is a heater in the balcony.
Ordered for 1+1 rum and Fried Squid with Grilled Tomato for starters. They gave us a bread basket with a tomato based dip and pesto. The pesto is to die for. It was crazy good, I don't know how many times did i ask for repeats. Anyway, the service was quick and the squids were cooked to perfection., the tomatoes were also fabulous. We also ordered the Accras Antillais or the cod fish fritters. its was lip-smacking.
For the main we ordered Jamaican Jerk Beef burgers with orange chipotle mayonnaise. This burger was one of the best i've had till date. It comes with a good quantity of french fries and onion rings. We got a Baba Au Rhum as complimentary dessert since it was my birthday. The balance was just right, the cake was mildly sweet, it did not overpower the flavour of the rum.
The person who served us, Sanjay, completed the whole experience. Cheerful and so attentive.
Rum Bar team keep up the good work. You are definitely the breath of fresh air in HKV.
