Stay away guys It was one of our worst days, that i bumped into royal hotel matheran agent in neral..we booked toy train from neral to matheran.at Neral this guy an agent of royal hotel met me and coaxed me to just come to their office and have a look. Their he actually displayed all false images of the rooms and the hotel, which we thought was actual. He even said his men will be their to pick up at the stn. On arrival at matheran,not even his dog was their. Then we managed to find the mahan Royal hotel,where a cold LPD guy recieved us and then gave us the keys of room no 156, the royal family suite but actually worst than a public toilet(sorry even that's better nowadays,thanks to swachatabhiyan). On opening the room itself ,we were welcomed with sweet fragrance of a public toilet. The linen was dirty ,the floor was full of hair, i wonder previous day whether it was used as a barber shop. No soaps,toilet,no TV,no water,floor dirty,no exhaust in the washroom. Armed with all such issues, i went to reception to make a complaint,their again a guy who was busy in canvassing another guy,said he will send soon.bit even after a wait of 20mins no one turned up. Then my better half got charged up and conforted the reception. Soon two teenage Turks turned up armed with bucket and broom.and started the safai abhiyan. And then changed the linen.still they couldn't live upto my better half expectation,as their was still hair and dust on the floor. Finally they managed to clear it off.and placed a camphor of water ,towel and soap. Warning No wifi and tv,on asking a lame reply TV kharab and they put it outside in the sun(maybe fungus impacted inside) & wiifi mein problem hai. Then next step was lunch,there was a good spread of dishes,but all dishes expect the curd was too oily.even the rotis were seemed dipped in oil served like rasgulla. Then we managed to get out of the room and get some fresh air outside. Spent a good time with horse ride to Charlotte lake,visited some points and later explored the local market. On return ,after entering our royal 156 ,it again started to smell like a urinal. Opened up all the doors and window and alas the window net were broken and torn and fearing the mosquito god's,was forced to close the glass window. The room smelled fungus and damp. Plaster of the wall was coming off. Somehow washed up,again warning no heater or hot water (hot water only from 0730-1000). Went for dinner,again the spread looked good, with noodles,rasgulla rotis,soup tasted like rice water,potato veggie,panner curry,and Loki halwa. Somehow satisfied our hunger pangs,and escape. Forgot, the dining area known as conference hall,is on the first floor, a small dingy pathway and staircase leads to the place.the wash area was again not disappointing, as usual dirty. There were repair work like plastering and paint work going on the rooms on the first floor. The outdoor area was good,and was nicely lit with led and music was playing. There is small swiming pool,and again didint disappoint, the water looked cloudy,seems it been ages since it was last cleaned. This hotel is a perfect example of how not to run a business in such a beautiful place. The only target is catching business with wrong tactics and cheating the normal public. The place could have been run very well owing to its the location and place. And finally after going around matheran , i reached the conclusion,that the Royal hotel is judged and awarded the worst place to book a room and stay . Even if you get a free complimentary stay, Guys stay away..danger..danger ahead... My better half was even afraid to use the towels provided by them,sensing some skin infection it might trigger...( There was a warning in notice placed inside the room, customers wiping theor shoes with towel will penalised with 200). AC is juiced out,no maintainence not any gas,fan speed is alway on top gear Stay away from the cheats in and around neral looking for gullible customers. Photos attached.

Room was so bad it smell dirty pillow covers smell bad they even not changed their blanket. Found hairs on that and price were to high not worth it buffet area was worst food doesn’t taste good highly recommend go somewhere else even they do not provide dental kit, & water bottle they charged 4000 for single ac room for 1 night
