After a long walk around Inmaiyil Nanmai Tharuvar Temple, come to Raja Barley Bakery and have a rest here. Tasty is the most suitable description for pizza at this place. It's a pleasant experience to try good ice cream, coconut buns and biscuits.

This is one of the oldest and most well known bakeries in Madurai.. Bakery items such as cookies and biscuits are fine here. However the cakes, pastries, sandwiches sold here are not at all up to the mark of a decent bakery.. Their pastries are dry, sandwiches mostly filled with loads of useless mayo and their cake making process is simply stupid, they don't know the art of good cake making. This time I was forced to try black forest pastry from here which was plain, no distinct black forest taste, just plain bad.. I've posted images of their black forest and it's how a black forest should NOT look... There are plenty of other good bakeries sprouting in Madurai, better to order from there unless you only want to stick to Raja Barleys legacy instead of their taste.. p.s: I personally like the cocoa sticks which they sell here and few other cookie items, those are great.
