I recently visited RC Chinese Food Court hoping to try their popular Gobi Fried Rice, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing and concerning. On the day I went, I happened to notice something alarming — the large rice drum from which they were preparing the dishes appeared frozen. It wasn’t freshly cooked rice; instead, it was previously cooked rice that had been stored and was now thawing slowly. Out of curiosity and concern, I asked the shop owner about it. What shocked me even more was his unapologetic response — he casually said that “all restaurants and hotels do the same thing.” According to him, they cook the rice in bulk and store it for days, using it as and when needed. But what I saw clearly looked like expired rice — the texture was off, the smell was stale, and it looked anything but fresh or safe to eat. As a customer, this raised serious hygiene and health concerns for me. Serving expired or days-old rice not only affects the taste and quality of the food but also poses potential health risks. It’s very disappointing to see such careless practices, especially when people trust restaurants to serve fresh and safe meals. Cleanliness is the basic expectation, and RC Chinese Food Court failed miserably in that regard during my visit. I sincerely hope they take this feedback seriously and adopt better food safety and hygiene practices in the future. Until then, I personally wouldn’t recommend eating here unless they prove that they’re willing to make changes. Food safety should never be compromised, no matter how small or big the outlet is.
