We had dinner at Rara Avis Restaurant in Thalassery. Overall, the food experience was average. We tried their fish special curry, regular fish curry, and tandoori chicken, but all the dishes were just okay in taste and didn't really stand out. However, the porotta and neypathil were quite good and were the best part of our meal. They were fresh, soft, and enjoyable. Overall, Rara Avis is an okay place for a casual meal, but the main dishes could definitely be improved to make the dining experience better. The food was okay (nothing great), but the service was very poor. After we ordered, the salad took about 10–20 minutes to arrive. It was another 10 minutes for the main course and another 15 minutes for the Sulaimani. We had ordered Mint Sulaimani, but they brought a plain one after 15 minutes. When we pointed this out, they simply dumped too many dried mint leaves into the same tea and brought it back two minutes later with a grumpy attitude. We tried the chicken mandi, chicken biryani, ghee rice, mutton pepper, and Caesar salad. The breadsticks in the Caesar salad tasted like they had been fried in old oil. Only the biryani was good; the mutton pepper was too oily, and the mandi was just average. To top it off, there was no payasam served with the biryani.
