Piping Hot Food, delivered by friendly Delivery guys, in Spacious Sturdy boxes. Massive Quantity at economical prices and lip smacking food.
Pik-N-Move Sector 8 is household name in Chandigarh and they are well known for their Non-Veg preparations and Cheese Naans. Well Pik-N-Move Afterhours is no different and delivers what it promises. The dishes are the same or even better.
We had the Chicken Manchow Soup, Chicken Sweet Corn Soup, Achari Tikka, Chicken Momos, Butter Chicken, Dal Makhni, Butter Roti, Garlic Naan, Chicken Malai Tikka.
We loved each and everything, The Dal Makhni is too Good with the Butter Roti. Garlic Naan had good stuffing of Garlic and went well with the lip smacking Butter Chicken. Chicken Momos had generous Chicken Stuffing and were perfect in every manner. The soups are the forte of Pik-N-Move and both the Chicken soups were equally good (The soups are easily amongst the best in the tricity, Pik-N-Move never go wrong with their soups). The Achari Tikka had the distinct Achari flavor and the chicken pieces were marinated well. Chicken Malai Tikka was my favorite as the name suggests Succulent, Melt in your mouth Chicken pieces were a treat for the senses and fulfilling for the tummy.
All in all, Great Food with impressive packaging, impeccable service and delivery. For all the late night Owls and Party people Pik-N-Move Afterhours is a Must try!
Now, PnM has been around ever since I can remember. They're permanent and a well-respected fixture in the Sector 8 market which boasts of other greats like Monica's, Super Donuts and more. They're known for their amazing non-vegetarian fare, something that I have had plenty, back in the pre-Zomato era when I used to be a carnivore of the most extreme variety. Their chicken tikkas and stuffed naans are legendary.
So, in comes the delivery guy with these two heavy boxes of food which was supposedly for 2 people but turned out to be for 5! The quantity that these guys pack is MASSIVE and yes I'm literally saying this out loud as reflected by the upper case text that I just used. This gives them a 10/10 for quantity, something that Punjabis love. If there is no quantity, then a Punjabi ain't going there.
The owners carefully designed every delivery to suit the preferences of the foodies. To that effect, I must applaud and commend their efforts. The box that I got had the following and I'll review them along.
- Sweet Corn Soup : This was the usual vegetarian sweet corn soup. It was fine and as expected.
- Veg Manchow Soup : The soup version of a Manchurian, this was a tad bit spicy but that is expected. It came with a packet of fried noodles which are used as a savoury topping in most places. These, I'm afraid were raw for most parts and hence could not be used. The soup could've been better. Manchow is typically characterised by the taste of the Soy sauce and garlic which form the base taste.
- Veg Noodles : The noodles were decent but I would've loved to see a bit more of the veggies in there. Tastewise, they were OK. On a side note, the use of MSG seemed minimal and fine as I'm somewhat sensitive to MSG and can sense its strength right afterwards.
- Veg Manchurian : The grand staple of Sino-Ludhianvi Chinese, the humble Manchurian was present and I was taken aback by the size of the vegetable balls that make up this dish. Tastewise, it was average and could've been way better in my opinion.
- Dal Makhni : The must have Dal Makhni tasted quite different from what we get elsewhere and it was indeed quite nice. And with a hot butter naan, this dal would surely work great.
- Paneer Tikka Masala : Again, huge pieces of paneer with onion, capsicum and tomatoes. I was not impressed by this dish and felt that the gravy and the taste were rather flat. I've had some amazing Paneer Tikka masala elsewhere but this didn't work.
- Cheese Naan with Gravy : This has been a forte of Pik-n-Move's outlet in Sector 8 and here again, it was good. Having said that, the quantity of cottage cheese inside the naan felt lacking. A richer filling can do wonders. The gravy was good, though.
All of this came with sauces, butter and an excellent onion salad.
Overall, a welcome addition to the home delivery scene in Chandigarh, I would advise Pik-n-Move After Hours to focus on the vegetarian fare a bit. It needs a lot of work to come up to the reputation, that you've established in the non-vegetarian arena. This is a common problem with most non-vegetarian eateries in the tricity. If they serve excellent non-vegetarian fare, then their vegetarian is totally passable and is treated like a step-child. The same was felt here as well.
All in all, to the owners, you're doing everything right. Excellent packaging that preserves the aroma, taste and temperature, spot on and timely delivery which is remarkable and massive quantity for the price.
Except that the vegetarian fare needs work. Lots of work. Fix that! You're on your way to victory already!
I was happy to know that they have started a midnight food delivery service so I was eager to try it out. My order was an elaborate gesture by Pik-n-move management who decided to send a few of us different dishes to get our feedback.
My order consisted of chicken tikka, keema naan with gravy, Punjabi chicken with butter Roti, chicken hot and sour soup and chicken manchow soup.
The quantity was generous to say the least, the packaging was fabulous and above all, the food looked and tasted fantastic.
My favorite of all was chicken hot and sour soup and keema naan with gravy. This was a good hearty meal and I will definitely be ordering again from Pik-N-Move after hours. I highly recommend that you check them out.
