Padma Cafe, Cherthala — A Great Spot for Crispy Vada & Veg Snacks If you happen to be around Cherthala and looking for a simple, no-fuss vegetarian snack or breakfast spot, Padma Cafe is a solid choice. Located near Manorama Junction, it’s easy enough to find and regularly frequented by locals for its tasty South Indian bites. Food & Taste:. What really stands out at Padma Cafe is their crispy Uzhunnu Vada (vada) — often praised by customers as “crispy and delicious.” I tried it with coconut chutney and sambar, and the crunchiness of the outer layer, combined with the soft inside, was absolutely satisfying. Besides vada, they also serve masala dosa, idli, parippu vada, and other vegetarian snacks — and the masala dosa gets good reviews for being soft, well-spiced, and paired effectively with sambar and chutney. Ambience & Setup:. Padma Cafe is modest and unpretentious — a simple, clean vegetarian eatery with minimal décor and a straightforward setup. Seating is limited, so it might get a bit crowded during peak hours. Parking isn’t formalized either — since the cafe lies by a roadside junction, you may have to find a nearby spot if you arrive by car. Service & Pricing:. The staff are generally friendly and quick, so ordering and getting your food happens without much delay — even when the place is busy. The pricing is reasonable and budget-friendly: a vada or dosa with tea doesn’t cost much. What I Liked: The crispy Uzhunnu Vada is a must-try. Good variety of South Indian vegetarian snacks and breakfast-items. Friendly service and quick turnaround. Great for a casual visit — ideal for breakfast or an evening snack. Things to Keep in Mind: Seating and parking can be a bit cramped. Ambience is basic — don’t expect fancy décor, AC, or luxury. Demand is high during early morning / evening, so you might need to wait for a table. --- Verdict: For anyone craving a tasty vegetarian snack or breakfast in Cherthala — especially if you love crispy vada — Padma Cafe (near Manorama Jn) is definitely worth a visit. It’s simple, humble, and delivers good food at fair prices. I’d go back, especially for that vada! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
