Tucked into a narrow lane just off Bandra’s Pali Hill is a small, garage-sized food haven. A yellow and black sign reading ‘May the pav be with you’ hangs on the right as one of many quirky design elements filling the stall, complete with old English-style lamps adorning the front on either side. The counter presents itself as the front of a food truck, with a picnic tablecloth hanging over the front desk holding a bowl of candy, hand sanitizer, napkins, a menu card and a stack of business cards. Pack-A-Pav is a compact restaurant/powerhouse in Pali Hill that serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian kebabs that taste of home. The restaurant’s menu is evolved and straightforward, much like its name. The entire menu fits on a single page, and there is no swaying you by clumping global cuisines together under contrived, not-so-clever headings. Each pav is served with hung curd basil dip, a mushroom mince or a salsa sip, depending on what flavors go well together. Let’s not forget: you are also served a side of nostalgia as they give a packet of fryums. .
