Visited The Punjabi Restaurant in Kottayam 4 days ago, and it brought back a lot of memories! I had dined here around 13 years ago, and it’s great to see that the restaurant is still at the same spot, running under the same name. Back in the day, this used to be one of our go-to places for biryani after catching a movie at the nearby theaters—so it was definitely a nostalgic visit. This time, we ordered one half regular chicken biryani, one half special chicken biryani, and one full special chicken biryani. The taste was good—slightly above average. The full special biryani cost around Rs. 260, which felt a bit pricey for the portion and overall experience. Still, the flavors were decent and satisfying. What stood out was the atmosphere. The place still looks and feels almost exactly the same, and that familiarity was quite comforting. The owner himself was there, greeting guests, taking orders, and checking on customers, which gave a warm, personal touch without feeling awkward. All in all, it was a nice throwback to the past, and I’m glad the restaurant has stood the test of time. Worth a visit if you’re nearby and want to enjoy a bit of nostalgia along with a plate of biryani.
