Mumbai’s Kamala Mills area in Lower Parel has a new addition to its roster of luxury, fine-dining spaces, and this one comes with a distinct edge. Ostaad is a Central Asian restaurant - a rarity even in a city that is otherwise overwhelmed with all manner of contemporary and traditional cuisines—and as the name suggests, has a distinct, almost romantic inflection of old-world regalia. Chandeliers, geometric tiles and arched mirrors infuse Ostaad with the Central Asian touch. Blue chairs, white tables and a big contemporary bar balance the ornate décor. The restaurant will serve the cuisines of Balochistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. Coming to food pallete we started with red bean salad a perfect start for the meal. In main course we ate Damboli which was truly delicious, it consists of fresh vegetables cooked with ginger & ostaad spices. After that we had Mezze platter, it includes 3 types of hummus. we also tried scrumptious mushroom baklava, Iranian prawns curry. We ended up with Afghani Dessert Umali which was satisfying & delicious, it's a freshly baked thick & sweet condensed milk puff pastry topped with crunchy nuts.
