TLDR; - Brilliant Kerala food at unbelievably low prices! Do not miss... Full review Today was an absolutely delightful meal - every single dish was amazingly tasty, service was fast, and the pricing was incredibly value for money! We started with a Chicken Kondattom (highly recommended - such solid flavors of caramelized onions, red chillies, whole spices etc.), chicken kabab (tasty) and a Poth Fry (brilliant). Then came the Prawns Ularthu (superb, full of crunchy coconut bits and more caramelized onions). The Puttu and Kadala Curry was very home style and delicious. The Kothu Parota Chicken was rather nice - quite a contrast to the last few Kothu Parotas I've tried at different outlets across the city. My Kizhi Potth Biryani was brilliant - the aromas, the flavors, the textures - just amazing. 2 new mallu dishes I tried today were the Paal Parotta Potth and the Chicken Mappas. The  Paal parotta was a very different texture, as the Parotta had been soaked in coconut milk, and had become melt in the mouth tender. The flavors of this dish were extremely mild/ mellow - in my mind the first reaction was "baby food" given the ultra soft texture and the ultra-mild flavors. But I took a bite of this with the Prawns Ularthu and that transformed the paal parotta completely! The chicken mappas was a thick aromatic mild chicken curry - made "as good as at home" (comment by Mallu Behen Leesona). This went very well with the appams and even as an accompaniment to the biryani. The chaya we had was kadak and delicious. The jackfruit shake was amazing - just wish we realized we could ask them to tone down the sugar, it was a sugar bomb. The most incredible part of the meal was the bill - came up to only about 400/head - despite all that we ate. We'd have paid double or triple that in some other places with food that wasn't even half as good. So hats off to Abdul and team at Oru Vadakkan Cafe for pulling this off!
