A very good restaurant in Tuticorin with a simple homely menu and tasty food. The fish fry and curry here is good. I frequently visit here to have lunch. Never ever had any stomach issues after eating their food. The price is very reasonable. Had a chance to savour traditional Sri Lankan cuisine in this restaurant. The restaurant is a rehabilitation effort for the ladies who reached as refugees. The restaurant is managed well by the group. We stepped in for an early dinner, around 7. The dinner menu items were just getting ready. So we started our dinner with the snacks which was readily available. Tried fish cutlet, susiyam and kozhukkattai. Taste was very similar to Kerala cuisine. We were then served soup made out of prawn heads. The soup was not ordered, it was served because food was still not ready. It was a wonderful gesture. Our dinner was puttu steamed in the olai or coconut palm leaf, idiyappam, sothi and chicken 65. All the dishes were very flavouful. Service is very good. All the staff are friendly. Prices are very low. They refused to charge us for the soup as they were trying to compensate for the delay in serving us dinner. They serve quite many vegetarian dishes.. One can also get a glimpse of life as refugee, which is quite poignant. The ladies who run the restaurant are open about their experiences. A visit is highly recommended.
