Service - 3/5 Took a lot of time to bring the curry dish
Decor - 4/5 looks neat and good ambiance.
Food that we tasted 2/5
We had ordered murgh malavani curry half plate which had 6 pieces which was great but it had a very strange tangerine flavour may be due to old coconut paste used. We didnt like it at all.
The only reason I give it a 2.5 star is because the staff was courteous and then reduced 50 rupees from the bill when we complained about it.
Also, the gravy is too much and will most of the times be wasted so I would request them to reduce the curry quantity which is served separately.
PS: The only reason I would like to ever come back would be due to the politeness of the staff, apart from that no pros based on my first visit.
One of the best tandoori chickens that I have ordered. The first time i got it, it was a little raw. I had to fix up in a kadai but have to say it was very flavourful and fresh. Tandoori chicken over here is towards the spicy side which I love. the size of the chicken is neither too small nor too large. I seriously prefer tandoori chicken over here compared to swaadesi, marrakesh, raqabdaar, time out. (the four other places I order from a lot.)
I once ordered their murg musallam and was amazed at the quantity and quality again. But the chicken was too bland and it did not have the mandatory pieces of kheema. Which was alright for me as my wife likes to have chicken gravy without the chicken so normally murg musllam is ordered only when I am eating it. The gravy is towards the creamy and bland side almost like butter chicken. Will keep ordering online as the place is very close to my place and I like to travel at least a bit for my food ;) when I go out.
I even got a portion of Egg Biryani with my order of tandoori chicken and murg musallam. I am not sure if thats a part of the meal with murg musallam or not but I enjoyed it a lot. The biryani over here seems great too judging by the taste.
Update:- both tandoori chicken and murg mussallam have been removed from their menu online for some reason.
Now, with a restaurant named Oasis, one would generally ponder on how good it woyld be! Oasis Family restaurant is situated right opposite the India office campus of Cummins India. Talk, about being at the perfect place to attract customers!
With a decent seating arrangement and interiors, one would associate it with pocket-friendly rates and quick service. Well, it does live up to expectations in certain ways.
With a blend of Indian, Chinese (read: Chainese) and Mughlai dishes, a lot of the gravies have a common taste, coz the base would be same, yet, the treatment of the dish, apparently different!
Here's what me and my dear school friend, who came visiting ordered;
Mushroom Kadhai (A medium spicy dish, with copious amounts of julienne capsicum, sliced button mushrooms, ground pepper, asfoetida and a thick gravy.)
Plain Roti (The round Indian bread prepared in a tandoor - wooden oven and crisped to perfection. Well, literally!)
Egg Pakoda (Egg fritters deep fried in vegetable oil with pieces of the egg yolk and egg white intact in every fritter, with turmeric and garlic paste as seasoning.)
What's the verdict after eating all this at 5p.m.?
Close to satisfactory to say the least. Possible improvement in the gravy, in terms of texture and taste. The mushroom dish didn't really hit the spot. The egg fritters were quite delectable, yet, needed an accompaniment in terms of green chutney/schezwan sauce. The roti was just above average.
Some parting words would be;
Work on the ingredients of the gravy and look to publicize the nouveau dishes. This should allow some more visitors to this 'oasis' of food.
Time to sail ahead from the 'oasis' and consider some mainland dishes for the general public. My best wishes to the management team involved!
