ODEA, located near Kotagiri in the Nilgiris, is a fine dining spot that offers a limited but exquisite menu of Badaga cuisine. The establishment's ambience is breathtaking, with a beautiful man-made pond surrounded by tea gardens and hills, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a peaceful meal. The interior design of ODEA is simple yet elegant, with an emphasis on showcasing the natural surroundings. The price range is average, with an average cost of 600 rupees per person.
ODEA's menu features traditional Badaga dishes such as Kothu Parotta, a flaky South Indian bread stir-fried with vegetables and spices, and Kori Gassi, a spicy chicken curry made with coconut milk and tamarind. They also offer a variety of soft drinks and cocktails, including the classic Mojito and the refreshing Watermelon Cooler. The establishment's wine selection is limited but includes a few good options.
One of ODEA's special features is its outdoor seating, which allows diners to enjoy the stunning views while indulging in their meals. However, it is important to note that the restaurant only serves lunch and is open until tea time. Therefore, it is recommended to book in advance, especially during peak hours.
Overall, ODEA is a must-visit place for those who appreciate nature and authentic Badaga cuisine.
Lovely place over looking a small pond. Parking was available and they had both inside and outside seating. The service was very good and the staff were friendly. We got our food pretty quickly, maybe because it wasn't very crowded. Even if it did take a while, we would have enjoyed the view and weather. The food was tasty. The only disappointment was that they don't have any deserts. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Odae offers a breathtaking ambience that is truly stunning, but unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. The biriyani lacked flavor entirely, and the paneer was not up to the mark. The paneer rice was just passable, while the lemon chicken and paneer butter masala were far from their expected taste. To top it off, we ordered a veg biriyani but found chicken pieces in it—seemingly removed from a chicken biriyani. While the place is worth visiting for its ambience, the food doesn't live up to expectations. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹200–400 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
