bread was completely burnt from both sides.. it ws black frm both side.. it ws not at all fresh.. food was not hot.. it came from so nearby..still it ws cold.. totally disappointed..

When I started journaling my food experiences, I remember Nini's was the first restaurant in Ahmedabad I had written about back in 2011-12. My tryst with food at Nini's has always been good. Only few restaurants can uphold to their standards for this long consistently.Latest addition to Nini's Kitchen is their Niro. I mean it is not that latest and it was not my first visit but my latest visit yesterday compelled me to write this experience.Just before getting into one of the lengthiest movies of year, I was famished and went into Niro. Before starting from my home, I was sure what I wanted to eat and ordered exactly that.Hipster Avocado Toast allows the avocado to flourish as a hero ingredient. Unlike at other places where condiments or other ingredients like tomatoes/onions overpower, it was not the case at Niro. Since it is on sourdough bread, it is little hard which was expected. A few droplets of Balsamic was just perfect to cut the creaminess of Avocado. Too good!Magic Shrooms Potato Rosti was another dish that was very good. Apart from a few small little tweaks, this too would have been perfect. The star ingredient of this dish was caramelised onions. The jammy, mushy, tad bit sweet caramelised onions were something I could eat just as is as a relish with many dishes. Chunky mushrooms were not reduced to bits to bring out that necessary bite from it. These small little things make a big impact on dishes. What could have changed (for me personally) was the amount of cheese used in it. It was a bit too much for me. It was overpowering the dish which made me extract a few bits of mushrooms and onions to be savoured later ;) There were so many components in the dish - Mushrooms, caramelised onions, handful amount of cheese, two dips served on the side that it completely took away my attention from the main component - Potato Rosti. Now, the rostis always seem to be oily, this was more like a thin, potato pancake (not deep-fried). The crispness of the Rosti turned into a chewy bite. Overall, it did make me feel good about the dish. If this small things are addressed, it would be perfect.Since this brand is introduced as a QSR catering in malls, airports etc. they are mindful about their cutlery. There's no fancy cutlery and they have bossed up by mentioning the same on their menu. It is like we will address this issue before the issue becomes an "issue". Good move, Niro.On their menu, they have also mentioned that food is made from the scratch which will take 20 minutes. A practice most restaurants follow and it is quite acceptable. My only worry is, if they are projecting and planning Niro to be a quick on-the-go food outlet, will a person wait for 20 mins for an on-the-go gourmet item? Maybe they will have a section on the menu which will not take as much time? Need to wait for it when the situation presents itself in that scenario.The vision as written on their menu, Niro is about strengthening the old and new bonds, alike, they did strengthen our old bond of over a decade with their food. Kudos!
