Nazeer Foods: High Hopes for the Raan, But Execution Fell Short Rating: (3/5 Stars) Dishes Reviewed: Mutton Raan (\text{₹}2300), Chicken Lollipop, Butter Naan Meal Type: Dinner Date of Visit: [Insert Date of Your Visit - e.g., Saturday Evening, 21st Sep] Nazeer Foods has long been synonymous with rich, authentic Mughlai cuisine, and I recently visited with high expectations, particularly to try their famous Mutton Raan. While the other dishes, like the Chicken Lollipop and Butter Naan, were enjoyable, the flagship Raan, which is a premium and costly item, ultimately determined the mixed 3-star rating. The Star Dish: Mutton Raan (\text{₹}2300 - 3/5 Stars) The Mutton Raan is undoubtedly the most talked-about item, and at a premium price of \text{₹}2300 (as per my bill), it sets a very high bar. Visually, the dish was impressive: a massive, roasted leg of mutton, beautifully presented. This is where the praise for the Raan largely ends. The primary issue was the texture and tenderness. While the outer layer had a decent, aromatic crust, the mutton deep inside the cut was surprisingly dry and stringy in certain sections. A proper Raan, especially at this price point, should be falling off the bone with minimal effort, having been slow-cooked to perfection. This unfortunately felt rushed. The accompanying gravy was flavorful—rich with whole spices, a smoky undertone, and a satisfyingly thick consistency—but it couldn't fully compensate for the dryness of the meat itself. Considering the premium cost and the reputation, this crucial execution flaw was a significant disappointment, pulling the overall experience down to an average mark. The Starters & Bread: Chicken Lollipop & Butter Naan (4/5 Stars) To start, we ordered the Chicken Lollipop, which turned out to be the highlight of the meal. They were perfectly fried—crispy on the outside, and incredibly juicy and tender on the inside. The marination had a good balance of spice and tang, making them addictive finger food. The portion size was generous, and they vanished from the plate quickly. We paired the mains with Butter Naan. The naan was soft, fluffy, and had a perfect tandoori char without being too chewy or stretchy. It was generously brushed with butter, providing an excellent vehicle to mop up the rich Raan gravy. The quality of the bread was consistently high and definitely recommendable. Ambiance and Service (3/5 Stars) The ambiance at the [Specify your outlet, e.g., Okhla] outlet was [e.g., decent, clean, slightly dated]. It's a casual dining space that gets very busy, especially on weekends. The seating was comfortable, though the air conditioning could have been more efficient. Service was prompt enough to take the order, but getting the attention of the staff for follow-ups (like requesting extra chutney or water) was a bit of a struggle during the peak dinner rush. They were polite but seemed overworked, which is a common issue at popular joints. Final Verdict Nazeer Foods provides a classic, rich Mughlai meal experience. The Chicken Lollipop and Butter Naan were excellent, living up to the brand's reputation for quality North Indian staples. However, the experience was significantly weighted down by the lackluster, overly dry texture of the Mutton Raan. For an item commanding a price of \text{₹}2300, the quality needs to be impeccable and deserving of 5 stars. Given the mixed bag of a great appetizer/bread and a surprisingly disappointing main course, I'm settling on a 3-star rating. If you visit, stick to their reliable items like the Chicken Lollipop, Chicken Korma, or Biryanis, and perhaps exercise caution before splurging on the Mutton Raan. It has the potential to be magnificent, but on this visit, it simply wasn't. Will I return? Yes, but for the Chicken Lollipop and a different main course. The Raan, unfortunately, is off the repeat list for now. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Service: Dine in Price per person: ₹400–600
