I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel compelled after the birthday cake I had at navrang vatika. After an otherwise decent meal, we ordered a birthday cake that the server described as “house-made and crowd-favorite.” Unfortunately, it was anything but. The texture was dry—so dry it crumbled under the fork like stale cornbread. The frosting, which should have saved it, tasted like a mix of margarine and regret. It was overly sweet, but somehow still bland. A confusing, cloying combination. Worse, the cake was served fridge-cold, which only emphasized its lack of freshness. It felt like it had been made days in advance and forgotten in the back until someone remembered to upsell it. For a place that seems to pride itself on presentation and flavor, this dessert was a major letdown. If you go, maybe skip the cake—or bring a glass of water and a sense of humor.
