Mustard is a beautiful casual dining restaurant serving wonderful French and Bangali cuisines newly reopened at Anjuna.
We kicked off with the beautiful Kasundi Chicken. Soft, boneless pieces of chicken marinated in Kasundi their signature mustard sauce skewered and sizzled to perfection.
Next came in the seafood Calamari a la Basquaise - calamari strips and chorizo cooked in red peppers and Tentul Chingri - tamarind prawns. Those succulent pan fried prawns in that lovely sweet and sour tamarind reduction just sings on your palate. Calamari a la Basquaise is a preparation that's made using red peppers, succulent calamari and a robust chorizo. An absolute delight for any chorizo lover.
I rarely like a vegetarian dish but the Taka Luchi Alur Dom which is basically Cocktail size luchi(bengali puffed deep fried bread made using Maida or all purpose flour) bites wrapped in curried baby potatoes created such a comforting combo that I absolutely adored this dish.
For mains we ordered Chingri Maachher Malaikari - prawns malai curry accompanied with rice and dal, plus luchis. The depth of flavour in this beautiful king prawns curry simmered in coconut milk with fragrant spices was spectacularly delicious.
Escalope de Poulet Cordon Bleu - cheese stuffed and ham wrapped chicken. A thin esalope of chicken is folded around a core of cheese and BBQ ham before being crumb fried and served with mustard de campagne. The crisp on the outside and the gooey comforting goodness on the inside always manages to make me weak in the knees.
We ended with the very stunning strawberry tart. A crunchy sweet dough filled up with vanilla pastry cream and ripe strawberries and strawberry coulis. The tart pastry crust was baked golden, buttery, thin and crumbly. Plus the vanilla cream along with those fresh strawberries and that citrusy strawberry coulis simply made it just so beautifully.
Highly recommend a visit to Mustard.
I am a bengali from heart and finding food this comforting is very rare! I loved the vibe of restaurant and different sitting arrangements and amazing bar!
Inspired by the use of mustard in its purest forms by both Bengali and French cuisine, they have brought together the best of the gourmet West and the feast of the East, thus also introducing for the first time to connoisseurs the culinary culture of a once-undivided Bengal.
Talking about Beverages, they have a huge variety of mocktails and cocktails, where each one is unique from the other.
The Food of the place have a distinct flavour and each dish is made with perfection.
The ambience of the place is quite chill and relaxing.
Also the staff is quite friendly and serves as per your convenience.
