I ordered Kolkata Chicken biryani. What was served to me was a laughable travesty. They just put a potato and egg in some random biryani and called it Kolkata Biryani. Authentic Kolkata biryani is mild, aromatic, delicate, subtle. It is characterised by the flavour or kewra water, rose water, is light on spices and has long-grained yellow-coloured rice. If you don’t know how to prepare a dish, better remove it from the menu. Secondly, I ordered mutton tawa kebab. It tasted okay, but the texture was too loose (it did not bind well) and quantity of mutton used was also little. Good thing was that it was served with pao which made it feel like a meal. Overall experience is okay-ish. Will I repeat/recommend? Big NO - unless there’s a compulsion. Finally, the bill was for Rs 20 more than expected. When I raised objection, the owner acknowledged it immediately and reduced Rs 20. Probably the person at the counter was untrained (Typical of Bhopal).
