Mizo Kitchen is a rooftop restaurant in Koramangala that prides itself on serving some of the best Mizo food in Bangalore. The place looks more than a decade old (established 2009) and so it is kind of in a rundown state (which is still not a problem for me as long as the food is good). We ordered Mizo style pork noodles, Smoked pork fry and Pork sausage fry (as our server suggested it is homemade). Mind you, this blogger I am mentioning suggested 2 out of the 3 things we ordered as a “must try” here. First of all, my sincere question is WHO SERVES FOOD ON A BED OF SHREDDED CABBAGES!? To add to that, I am pretty sure the oil that this place is using to cook their food is not even edible anymore. It smelt funny, tasted rancid (all the dishes). After two or three bites, I started feeling nauseous. Lastly, I do understand that in a price range of INR 250-300 serving a good portion of pork is not possible when you’re running a business. But for INR 300, serving 5 slices of fat and 3 slices of meat is a little outrageous.

I visited Mizo Kitchen in Koramangala for the first time on October 3rd along with my friends, eager to try out some good food. Unfortunately, our experience from the moment we approached the restaurant to the time we left was deeply disappointing. As we neared the entrance (near the elevator), we were immediately hit by a strong, unpleasant smell—likely from leftover pan or spit particles—creating a very unhygienic first impression. Upon entering, the floor was extremely slippery and dirty. While it had rained, basic cleanliness and safety should still be maintained, especially in a dining establishment. We had to seat ourselves, as no staff attended to us. There were no menus on our table, so we took one from another table. We even had to place our order directly at the billing counter, as no one came to take it. Despite being seated, no water was provided, and there was no initiative from the staff to check on us. A couple seated near us also struggled to get the staff’s attention. When they finally asked for hot water, the waitress simply replied, “We don’t have hot water.” Shortly afterward, they left—clearly unhappy with the service. To make matters worse, our main course order was initially served incorrectly. When we pointed it out, the server insisted we must have been mistaken and asked us to reconfirm. It took another 15 minutes before our actual order arrived. As for the food, it was average at best, certainly not worth the hassle. To top it all off, we spotted cockroaches on the table, and the washroom was filthy and smelled awful, further highlighting the poor hygiene standards. Overall, this was a very bad experience—from cleanliness and service to food quality. I sincerely hope the management takes these issues seriously and works on improving both hygiene and customer service. Until then, I wouldn’t recommend Mizo Kitchen to others. Amazing place for non veg lovers. The homemade stuffed sausages and the tamarind juice were outstanding. Beautiful terrace space marred by honking on the road below.
