McDonald's was founded in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald in San Bernardino, California. Initially, it was a barbecue restaurant, which they later transformed into a hamburger and milkshake shop, pioneering the fast-food system. Ray Kroc, a businessman, became a franchise agent in 1954 and later bought out the McDonald brothers in 1961, significantly expanding the business. He developed a standardized system and the iconic Golden Arches logo.
