Nestled in one of the calmer streets of Nungambakkam, is Mango Tree, specializing in traditional Chettinad cuisine. Finally ticked this place of the list, a while back.

The interiors are kept quite simple with elements bringing out the theme of a traditional Chettinad household, overall giving a homely feel to it.

Moving on, here’s everything we had.

Eraal Varuval, succulent prawns deep fried to a perfect crisp, was a hit!

Mutton Kola Urundai, loved the flavours it held, but could have been more tender. The chutney that came along with it was quite yum.

Vanjaram Varuval, super spicy and perfectly cooked, just how I like it. Would recommend only if you can handle the heat.

Kari Uppu Kari, the mutton pieces were quite tender but the flavours didn’t quite sit well with me.

Executive Non veg Thali, was overall decent, with nothing to rave about.

Mutton Biryani, was mildly spiced and flavourful, overall quite nice. Entire meal was washed down with a chilled glass of Nannari Sharbat

For desserts, we tried the Tres Leche, the cake was dense as opposed to being soft and moist, hence was quite underwhelming. Tender Coconut Mousse, on the other hand, was simply delicious.

All the dishes comes in good portions and are reasonable priced.

My rating would be 3.5 (which Zomato will not let me)
