Restaurant located at the lobby level of Hyatt regency , Lovely breakfast buffet , service is very prompt and warm. The cuisine has a wide range from classic English breakfast, North Indian and South Indian options , they even offered some pan Asian dishes. Quite a few live counters - mini pancakes, waffles, appam, dosa options and choice of fresh fruits and smoothies. A lovely place for the food and service ! This a really good restaurant in a very good hotel. The lobby leading to the Restaurant is well appointed, exceptionally clean, and has wonderful art. We arrived for late breakfast about 9:45. There are several food stations , and a place for on-demand orders. I had the Masala Dosa; the potatoes were well spiced and cooked, but the dosa could have been crispier, and sambar was fine. However, the coconut chutneys were exceptional. My friend had the idiappam and an omelet; both were tasty. We also had a cappuccino and drip coffee; both were exceptional. We had several pastries, and they were very good. Overall, the food options are good and great place to try different types of Kerala breakfast items. The dining space is well appointed with a formal section and one that is more casual, which seemed a bit more dated for a restaurant of this quality. The real surprise was the customer service, which was not great. Although the restaurant has many uniformed staff, most didn’t seem to care about helping us. We needed utensils, or help with specific item and it was very difficult to get anyone’s attention. Another thing we encountered was the frantic effort by staff to close down the restaurant at 10:30. No one mentioned the closing time when we came in, and soon found that all the serving spoons and other utensils were taken away. We also encountered an unfriendly guy, who someone else identified as the supervisor, who seemed more concerned about closing down rather than taking care of customers. I have been to many buffets around the world and haven’t experienced this before. This is clearly a training issue and one that should be addressed. The less than stellar service notwithstanding, Malabar Cafe is a great place to have a meal and to bring out of town guests! I hope management will address the customer service issues soon. Thank you Roy for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent experience at Malabar Cafe. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the ambiance, the variety of food options, and especially the exceptional coconut chutneys, cappuccino, and pastries. However, we’re truly sorry to learn about the service issues you encountered. It’s concerning to hear that the attentiveness of our staff fell short of your expectations and that the closing process affected your dining experience. Your feedback about the staff's lack of responsiveness and the abrupt transition to closing is invaluable, and we will address these concerns with our team to ensure that future guests have a more seamless and attentive experience. We appreciate your kind words about the food and the restaurant's setting and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a more polished experience on your next visit. Thank you once again for your feedback and your patronage.
