Visited Majghar in Kothrud after discovering them on Instagram and watching a tempting reel of their fish dishes. Being a seafood lover, I couldn’t resist planning a visit! I also learned that their original outlet is in Mumbai, which definitely raised my expectations. Starting with the ambiance – I’d happily give it (4/5). The place has a nice vibe and is perfect for a casual dine-out. Coming to the food: Surmai Tawa Fry – 5/5 Absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and definitely the star of our meal. Thecha Kolambi – 2/5 Recommended by the staff. It was medium spicy, covered in green thecha made of green chilies and garnished with peanut powder. While the presentation was good, the taste didn’t really impress us. Pomfret Thali – Mixed Review The pomfret itself was perfect in taste. Out of the two gravies, one thick gravy was decent, but the other had almost no taste at all. The biggest disappointment was the sukkat chutney — it was so bad that I literally had to eat ice cream afterward just to get rid of the taste. Unfortunately, that completely spoiled my mood. Overall, the taste felt very commercial and not at all gharguti (homestyle), which is what I was expecting. For me, it’s more of a one-time visit, try-it-for-the-experience kind of place. Seafood lovers can try it once, especially for the Surmai Tawa Fry! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹1,800–2,000 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
I recently visited here with a group of friends for a special day केळवण (my friends). The atmosphere here is comfy and welcoming. Soft marathi songs are played in the background with a trad touch. The staff was polite and the hospitality was excellent. I had ordered mutton thali (konkani style) for myself. The curry and mutton sukka felt average to me. Kombdi wade and indryani rice were really good. My friends ordered veg food which was great at taste. Overall we like the place. And the celebration become more memorable because of माजघर. Thankyou team :). Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Majghar - Kothrud is a solid pick if you're in Pune and craving seafood or Konkani-style coastal food. It doesn't try to be a fancy, high-end restaurant - it's more of a casual, value-for-money spot. Many people have enjoyed their meals there; dishes like fish fry, prawns, seafood thalis get consistently good remarks. If you go expecting a relaxed, satisfying dinner (or lunch), you'll likely get good food, decent portions, and fairly reasonable prices. Just keep in mind: sometimes freshness or service speed may fluctuate (especially in busy hours), so for the best experience - try to visit during off-peak hours. Bottom line: Good for seafood lovers or anyone wanting a no-frills, tasty, coastal-food dinner. Not ultra-luxurious, but worth it for what you pay.
