Mad over Grill, Ahmedabad – A Flame-Kissed Affair with Flavours As someone who’s constantly exploring Ahmedabad’s ever-evolving food scene, I recently stumbled upon Mad over Grill, tucked into the city's culinary corners — and let me tell you, it turned out to be more than just another BBQ joint. I visited the place during a family celebration, and what I thought would be a usual buffet experience turned into a rather memorable evening filled with good vibes, warm service, and some genuinely well-crafted food. Ambience: Cosy, Vibrant & Family-First From the moment we stepped in, the vibe was inviting — think warm lighting, simple but chic interiors, and a buzz of conversations and clinks of cutlery. Perfect for birthdays, reunions, or even casual weekend dinners. The highlight? A beautifully set-up birthday celebration with balloon décor and space to comfortably host the entire family, from toddlers to grandparents. The staff graciously accommodated our cake-cutting ceremony, which added a personal touch you don’t get everywhere. --- Grill Section – The True Heart of the Place Let’s get straight to the sizzle. Char-Grilled Corn on the Cob – Smoky, sweet, and slightly charred to perfection. It had that satisfying crunch with every bite. Paneer Tikka & Spiced Potato Cubes – The paneer was soft yet firm, marinated in a tangy tandoori masala that left a pleasant aftertaste. The potato was a sleeper hit – subtly spiced, smoky, and well-textured. Accompanied Mint Chutney – Cool, zesty, and paired wonderfully with the grill items, adding freshness after the char. --- Buffet Bites – East Meets West This wasn’t your usual overloaded buffet. The selection felt curated, and here’s what stood out: Yellow Hakka Noodles – A turmeric twist on the usual, mildly spiced and tossed with bell peppers. It gave off a homely, comforting feel. Classic Stir-Fried Noodles – Smokier and more robust in flavor. This one leaned more Chinese-style with soy, ginger, and crisp veggies. Red Sauce Pasta – A delightful surprise! The penne was perfectly al dente, coated in a tangy, tomato-rich sauce with just enough cheese and heat. Green Pesto Pasta – While the sauce was creamy, it could’ve used a touch more seasoning. It looked vibrant but needed a slight flavor boost. Dumplings in White Sauce – Unique and soft dumplings submerged in a creamy, béchamel-inspired sauce. A subtle dish, more comforting than bold. The cake-cutting ceremony felt intimate and joyful, with the entire staff cooperating seamlessly. It’s always a win when a restaurant accommodates personal celebrations with a smile rather than a frown. The atmosphere was filled with genuine laughter, claps, and sparkle — and as a food lover, it’s these little human moments that elevate a meal into a memory. Mad over Grill isn’t just about barbecue; it’s about celebrating food and family. From its variety of Indo-continental fare to the warmth of its staff, it hits the right notes for a casual, happy outing. While a few dishes could be elevated in terms of boldness and seasoning, the overall experience — especially the grill starters — makes it a worthy pitstop for foodies in Ahmedabad.
