If you feel hungry after visiting Appararao gallerirs, have a meal at this restaurant. Dishes of Mediterranean cuisine can be ordered at Lavash. Offering nicely cooked falafels, tomato soup and hummus is the unique characteristic of this place. Come here and order tasty ice cream, baklava and crème brûlée. Good coffee is served at this spot.
The hospitable staff welcomes visitors all year round. Cool service is something that guests highlight in their reviews. Prices here are reported to be attractive. You will appreciate the spectacular decor and charming ambiance of this restaurant.
Very yummy moussakka and babganoush. Special mention to the Sicilian Pizza and Ravioli. The best pasta I've had in a while.
The dessert was a killer. We had Umm Aali which is known to be mildly sweet. However if you are a hardcore sweetlover stay away from this.
Most of the excitement fizzled out once the orders were taken. The staff lack training and professionalism. Every time we wanted water, we had to ask 3-4 times. The juice which we ordered for the kid was so bitter that despite adding 3 pkts of Sugar it was insipid. They offered to change it and gave us some Fresh lime soda which wasn't good too.
They were so eager to clear the plates when the kid was eating. I lost my nerve when they wanted to clear the plate of the kid when he was actually having some pasta and chicken and eating it. Well, do they expect kids to finish off a meal quickly?? Another instance I was actually asking the waiter regarding the portion and he just looked at someone else and ran away.. REALLY!!!!! Finally after an ordeal with asking for water, we finally decided to leave. And yes you have to keep asking almost everyone for the menu during your meal if you wanted to order something else.
Being a specialty restaurant, I don't think it is too much to ask - Well trained staff who can pronounce some items from the menu.
Talking about food, for starters we ordered for hot and cold mezze mixed platter and for mains we ordered mousakka and shish taouk and for desserts we ordered baklava and 2 cokes to wash it all off. The food is tasty and the platter is an absolute must try it has both veg and non veg starters and they both taste yum. The mains also tasted good and so did the dessert. The portions are generous.
All if this costly us about 1200bucks. And I would say it was worth it.

Having spent a great deal of time in the Middle East, I can vouchsafe that the kibbeh was simply top class. Well made and perfectly cooked. Tabbouleh was well shy of my expectations and tasted rather bland and uninspiring.
The tagine was brilliant by Chennai standards, though I find Kefi at Taj mount road to be a better source of gastronomical delight in so far as this particular dish is concerned.
The umm ali was excellent on my first visit and downright vitriolic on my second. Watery, almost scorched and topped with coconut milk that looked like it had been reheated several times. A huge disappointment.
Overall, I'd give them a miss if you are used to real good Mediterranean food. If you go in for just the kibbeh, you will be hard pressed to find s better place in Chennai.
