Going by the wonderful things said by our friends about this place, we decided to visit. We were two people here on a weekend afternoon for a non alcoholic lunch date. La Roca is in the basement atrium area of Worldmark 1, located in the far corner of the indoor region.
I daresay, they have possibly the best interiors and ambient lighting among all the resto-bars in that area, totally justifying all the good reviews at first blush. We were seated at a table right before their bar.
As I had brisk-walked some distance to get to the place, we started with two Elderflower & Basil coolers, requesting for less sugar in both of them. It sucked that it was a non alcohol outing as the drink made one feel that this place would be very good with their cocktails.
We then ordered a plate of Chicken Adana Kababs. They came with pieces of Indian styled fresh breads, some grilled vegetables and a sauce. They tasted reasonably good. Buoyed by this, we wanted to order something else as well.
I was looking at Fish based dishes and was confused between Nam Prik Bao and Kasundi Tikka. We discussed this with the servers and as we preferred something grilled to something fried, we went for the Kasundi Fish Tikka and requested them to make it spicy. Unfortunately, the dish we eventually received was totally bland. Not even spice-bland, it was salt-bland. We requested them to fixed it and the servers took it to the chef, but we learnt that it couldn't be fixed. We asked for extra salt on the side and some mint sauce to be able to fix it ourselves and they obliged, but the dish was already beyond saving and had also started to go cold. We couldn't finish it in the end.
Maybe we didn't order their signature items or drinks, and a rating of 3.5 was keeping that into account, otherwise it may have been lower. Another visit may change our perspective for the better.
Aside from the food, there were other things to like. The ambience and service was nice. They also had a TV alongside the bar that was playing a live IPL match. Light music played.
Overall, we didn't use Zomato Prime to pay (20% or so discount) and our bill was 2500/-.
