Kumaran Mess is undoubtedly an overrated place with absolutely no justification for the hype it receives. None of the food here lives up to even basic expectations. The biryani, in particular, was extremely disappointing — it felt more like a third-rate attempt at the dish rather than something from a so-called popular mess. The flavors were bland, the texture was poor, and overall it lacked the essence of a proper biryani. As for the non-vegetarian dishes, they were equally unimpressive and frankly, made no sense in terms of taste or preparation. It seems like there’s no real effort put into the quality or authenticity of the food. The side dishes too fail to meet even the minimum standards one would expect from a place that boasts about its food. They’re not worth mentioning, let alone recommending. Overall, Kumaran Mess is all hype and no substance. If you are looking for quality food, especially in terms of biryani or non-veg dishes, this place will only leave you disappointed.
