A minute's late night craving got me trying Kolapasi at Adyar. Placed my order through Zomato. This was a meal for one. Delivery was prompt in 30 minutes as promised. The staff who called to confirm the address and the delivery person were courteous. The packaging was decent. Food arrived hot.
Since I heard mixed reviews of the biriyani and that fact that they only serve 'chukka biriyani', I chose to have an Idiyappam combo and mutton Chukka. Didn't want my upbeat food craving to wear thin by taking chances.
Idiyappam combo (Rs.99) - Consisted of 5 pieces of Idiyappam, chicken chukka and chicken gravy. The Idiyappam was dry but hot. I don't mind it being dry as long as it's not heavy and stomach bloating. Portion for Chicken Chukka was small but sizeable considering the price tag. Had a tinge of coconut-y garlic palate and after taste. Medium spiced, well cooked and tender chicken. The gravy was a sort of disappointment. It was rather bland, non spicy and quite a bit of irritants found.
Mutton chukka (Rs.199) - Distinct difference in taste compared to the chicken variant; a good thing as it was more enjoyable. Well cooked meat, flavour was amazing with hint of spices and missing the coconut-y flavour. Medium spiced. The portion was a bit larger than the chicken chukka which was part of a combo. I'd expect 25% more(only measurement I could think of
