Kimpou Special Feast -Rs.380 Khu Thong Soup -Rs.120 Chinese Green Tea -Rs.40 Kim Pou Chinese Banquet, Police Bazaar, Shillong Chinese $$$ 11.07.24 Today I'm out with Meva trying to get some things from PB. We were both hungry when it suddenly started pouring. Our closest restaurant was Kim Pou & so we decided not to look any further. This must be my 1st visit here after more than a decade. This is a classic & a place I didn't mind visiting. We stepped inside this huge dining room which hasn't changed much in the last decade. We sat down & had a look at the menu. Finally we went with a Kimpou Special Feast which had a clear soup, Rice, 3non veg items, a veg gravy & salad. Since there was only 1 soup we also decided to get a bowl of Khu Thong Soup, something we both have never tried. The food started to come after 15mins. The Khu Thong Soup came 1st. It was pinkish in color thanks to the red rice powder added to it. It had chicken & a soothing amount of ginger. This was the best clear soups I've had. Definitely a good start. The Kimpou Special Feast came in a big thali with a bowl of chicken clear soup. The soup was good but couldn't match up to the Khu Thong. The rice was fried rice quality & ok. The veg was good. The 2 pcs of chicken chilli gravy was good but nothing great. The 2 pcs of Pork chilli dry was better. It had more concentrated flavors. The chicken drumstick was nicely fried but when I took a bite I got a hint of Indian masalas. Not something expected. The special feast was ok. I finished it off with a cup of Chinese Green Tea. Kimpou has many good dishes in its menu, the special feast isn't their strongest. I would definitely recommend the soup though.
