Delicious Food. Ask for the Paneer Thali. One portion is good enough for two. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

While looking for the best places to try authentic Assamese cuisine in Guwahati, Khorikaa featured in nearly every list — and rightly so. We visited this place for lunch during our trip and had our first proper encounter with Assamese food. The experience was both culturally rich and pleasantly satisfying. We ordered: 1. Assamese Egg Thali 2. Assamese Pork Thali 3. Pork Khorika (Grilled Pork) 4. Pigeon with Pepper Both thalis came with a common set of vegetarian items. The egg thali featured two perfectly cooked eggs in a robust, flavourful curry, while the pork thali came with two pork khorikas and a bowl of pork in a delicious, mildly spiced gravy. The portions were generous, and the pork had a good fat-to-meat ratio. The gravy was rich in flavor but not heavy, making it very enjoyable with rice. One standout for me was the yellow dal — surprisingly simple but exceptionally good. The inclusion of Khar, a traditional Assamese alkaline dish, was something new for me as a Bengali, and it added a distinct regional touch to the meal. The thalis concluded with a serving of Payesh, which added a perfect sweet note to wrap up the hearty spread. Even though the pork thali already included khorika, we ordered an additional portion separately. The khorikas were packed with smoky flavor, and the fat melted in the mouth beautifully. The only minor downside was that the meat itself was a bit on the tougher side. My brother tried the Pigeon with Pepper. Pigeon meat, which may be a culture shock for others, is enjoyed widely across Assam. While the pepper-infused gravy paired well with rice and had a nice kick, the dish itself was underwhelming due to the bony cuts and lack of actual meat. Overall, we had a great experience dining here. Must visit if you are in Guwahati and willing to dive into the depths of the local cuisine.
