We visited Kerala Cafe on Valentine’s Day hoping to enjoy an authentic Kerala meal with good starters and a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had. After placing our initial order, nothing arrived for nearly 15 minutes. When we checked with the staff, they had no clue about it — it seemed like they had forgotten to punch in the order. We had to place the entire order again, which was extremely disappointing. Even after reordering, the food arrived very late. First, only a juice was served. After another long wait (almost 30 minutes), we received the fish and fish rawa fry — both completely lacking salt and flavor. Repeated reminders were needed before the veg meal was served. The veg meal experience was even worse. The plate was brought with just the liquid items like rasam, but no proper accompaniments. Rice was served to everyone at the table except me — they forgot my serving entirely. Even after serving rice later, I was left sitting with plain rice for 5–10 minutes because they kept forgetting to bring the vegetables, sambar, and other sides to my end of the table. For almost everything — spoons, forks, proper serving — we had to remind them multiple times. Despite our table being right at the entrance, the staff repeatedly ignored it. It genuinely felt like we were being overlooked throughout the meal. Overall, it was a completely disappointing and frustrating experience. This place does not have any of the authenticity it once had. The staff was rude, the food quality was poor, and the entire experience was pathetic from start to finish. This was definitely our last visit. If you don’t want to spoil your special day or dining experience, I would strongly suggest reconsidering before visiting. I loved the ambience of the cafe, If you love Kerala culture this place is definitely for you. Additionally, the restaurant provides best services accessible of wheel chair, medicals are available too. I particularly enjoyed the fresh tender coconut ice cream, Kerala mutton curry with biryani. These are just awesome, must try.
