If what titillates your sensibilities is not the nuanced alchemy of spices or the succour of soul-satisfying sustenance, but rather the superficial frippery of Instagrammable plating and aesthetic posturing, then you, dear gastronome, have serendipitously stumbled upon your sanctum sanctorum. One approached this establishment with a modicum of optimism and a rumbling stomach, only to be met with an epicurean experience so antithetical to flavour that one begins to suspect it was conceived more for the selfie camera than the salivary glands. Let us begin, magnanimously, with the lone triumph of the meal. Namely the lassi. An effervescent marvel, a veritable ambrosial elixir that momentarily redeemed the otherwise culinary catastrophe. Creamy, luscious, and unapologetically decadent. A gustatory balm in an otherwise arid desert of disappointment. Alas, that solitary high note was swiftly obliterated by the paneer thali, a microwaved menagerie of mediocrity masquerading as a meal. The paneer curry arrived scorched and sullen, the papad so rigid and tasteless that its only conceivable utility was as a makeshift coaster for said lassi. The array of vegetables artfully arranged around the plate were clearly intended more as edible décor. Emphasis on edible being entirely notional, than for actual consumption. Flavour? Absent without leave. As for the sweet corn starter, it was a culinary conundrum wrapped in grated cheese and existential confusion. A dissonant juxtaposition of crispy insipidity and lactose-laden ambition, one was left ruminating on the philosophical quandary: What, pray, was the intended purpose of this dish? And then, to the pièce de résistance of frustration. The customer service. One had to engage in what can only be described as courtship rituals to garner the attention of the staff, who treated our presence with all the enthusiasm of a parliamentary backbencher attending a 9 a.m. ethics seminar. That a service charge was appended to this display of indifference is, frankly, an act of fiscal chutzpah. In summation, this was a dining dalliance best left unremembered, a perfunctory performance devoid of passion, palate, or professionalism.
