Our visit to Hotel Kamat on Vizag's Beach Road was a tale of stark contrasts. The much-hyped star item, the Chicken Fry Piece Biryani, absolutely lived up to its reputation—the rice was fragrant and the fried chicken piece was perfectly spiced and delicious. However, the meal went downhill from there. The starters were unremarkable and forgettable. The real disappointment came with the Bagara Rice and Mutton Curry. The curry was utterly pathetic, lacking any depth of flavor or essence of mutton. The Bagara Rice was similarly bland and bore no resemblance to the authentic, flavorful dish it should be. A very inconsistent dining experience, saved only by their signature biryani. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₹400–600 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes Vegetarian options: Veg Spring rolls were normal and the Kamat Special Veg was very good.
