It all started with my brother-in-law recommending Shokhi macchi wala, Kalkaji. Festive season and to top it.. pleasant weather turned out to be just the right catalyst to drag me out for 'Fried Fish'. But that's another review :)
While we were in the vicinity, I had faint memories (from a couple of years ago) of a dear friend introducing me to sizzling kebabs on a road side pushcart barbecue someplace in Alaknanda. Now, i don't know if you have ever realised this before, but sometimes having no plans can lead you to fab experiences.
Bam - Exactly what happened !! It took a 20 min somewhat instinctive (obviously family would perhaps term it 'frantic') drive, but eventually, I did manage to run into the same pushcart from years ago... only thing was that it seemed kinda abandoned. What happened next, led me to the first statement about 'Just Kababs'. It had now graduated from a kinda temporary road-side pushcart to a brick n mortar pick-up outlet in what seemed like a DDA market.
Ok.. Now, lets talk food - Just like my subconscious impression from years ago, the outlet still promises mouth watering & lip smacking tikkas n kebabs. It is centrally located in a DDA market (I presume) adjacent to Aravali apartments. Do give their mutton seekh kebabs a try !
Now lets look at a few downsides - It is a 'Delivery Only' outlet.. For KEBABS... sounds counter-intuitive. But seriously, not quite appropriate to visit with family - 1. Market where the joint is located is more or less a parking lot & quite deserted 2. There is every chance of one running into karobar gangs. Though they offer to serve in your car.. yours might just be the only car and the ambience is not quite like the Sanjha chulah's & Alkauser's. If you do love ur food... i trust that you'll land up anyway.. just like i did :)
Caveat - I am not sure if the owner has opened the joint as a means of earning a livelihood OR if it's just a side business OR just out of sheer love for food. The above account is all about me being happy for the outlets metaphorical journey from rags to riches.
