Come here for a meal after visiting Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. Indian cuisine is a must-order one at this restaurant. The pleasant waitstaff welcomes guests all year round. The professional service is a big plus of Jungle Restaurant. You will certainly appreciate the lovely ambiance and divine decor.

Food : The non-veg is the most amazing non-veg we have tasted in Mysore. Well, I am talking about starters here, as we always had starters only. Me and my wife never felt the need to order main-course as the starters made us cry (with happiness :P). The must try is the Fung-thue legs - Spicy chicken drumsticks best enjoyed by your bare hands (carry the hand sanitizer! :P). The pepper dry chicken and Fish. The Fish is what we loved more, but you just cannot go wrong with the black pepper masala. The chand ka tukda chicken kebab is for you if you like mild flavored chicken kebabs. We chugged 2-3 helpings of these dishes everytime with the Cinderela mocktale so that's a must try too :) I had main-course only once here so really cannot give a detailed view, but it was decent.
Ambiance : If the jungle entices you and you grew up with Mowgli on your mind, this place will make you super-happy. The setting is of a jungle (ok that was obvious!) and you have various fake animals around you. The lights itself are in weaver bird nests (don't call PETA it's fake too!) and impart a soft light. They even play ambient jungle sound and you will have food hearing to night bird calls and cricket chirps. One of the best themed restaurants I have visited till date.
Service : Well this is tricky. While the managers are super accomodating to your requests and as polite as can be, the service is SUPER SLOW. I am talking about appetite-killing slow here. This is one thing they need to improve ASAP. Don't know how we got our appetite back again after seeing a new dish headed our way though ;) Oh and they celebrate birthdays in style too. Will carry your cake to the table, stand around to see if everything is fine and take photographs too. All this while playing the "Happy Birthday" jingle in the background.
Jungle restaurant is situated in the fourth floor of Pai Vista Hotel (near the Mysore KSRTC bus stand).
The ambience is good (not mind blowing) as the restaurant has a look of jungle with a centrally placed tree with an outlook of rain forest with dummy animals and birds.
Since we were travelling, we reached the place by 10AM for breakfast and we were warmly welcomed.
Then the problem began, the carrot and cucumber juice cans were empty, no fruit salad, no idli, poori or vada, upma only 2 scoops were available. Chicken sausage and scrambled egg too were in minimal quantity. Croissant and doughnuts were dull and aerated. Bread toast and coffee vending machine were not working.
After few minutes of waiting, we had the refills for Upma, idli and vada. We also placed order for 3 masala dosa. Upma, Idli and vada were fine, but the potato in the masala dosa were half cooked. Only items which was issue less were the Muffins, which were good.
May be we came at a wrong time, but the restaurant need to have strict timing for buffet and ample quantity to serve the customers.
Decor and ambience is some thing you will remember.
