I recently revisited ISKCON Bhojonalaya in Silchar after a gap of 11 years, and it felt like stepping into a time capsule. The food quality remains more or less the same as I remembered—moderate in taste, not too spicy, and not overly oily. For someone staying in Silchar for a couple of days and looking for a vegetarian option, it can be a dependable choice. Lunch offers a variety of items along with rice, making it filling and balanced. Breakfast is typically puri with sabji, but one thing that stood out was the waiting time in the morning—it’s noticeably longer compared to other meal times, which can be inconvenient if you’re in a hurry. The sweets remain a strong point, just like before, and are worth trying. However, what disappointed me was the complete lack of change in the dining environment. The same tables, same chairs, and even the same washbasin from 11 years ago are still there, but now they look worn and unhygienic. Maintenance seems to have been neglected. The staff also appear slower and less attentive than I recall, almost as if the pace has become more lethargic over the years. Overall, while the food remains acceptable for regular vegetarian meals, the hygiene and service quality need serious improvement to match the standards expected today.
