We happened to end up at this restaurant because there was no other good joint in the vicinity for a multi-cuisine casual dinner. No place in Dehradun has ever been a disappointment, so it was not that hard to trust this place either. However, things were pretty different at Invitation.
Considering the fact it is housed under a highly recommended hotel, Invitation Grand, we were expecting a comfortable dining experience. First of all, the tables are placed in such a haphazard way that it almost feels like you are sitting right at the gate, no matter on which table you are. Flies were also a big turn off, considering it was a dining place.
Coming to the food, since we were not in mood for a full fledged Indian main course meal, we ordered a platter of spring rolls among the appetizers followed by veg Biryani. We were planning to order some dishes of Chinese main course, but had to drop the idea because of the food quality. The spring rolls, although made nicely, but were too oily and almost tasted as if they were refried. The biryani was way too spicy and had a hint of staleness to its texture. The good part is that the quantity of serving is quite sufficient, but then, huge quantity of low quality food is highly unacceptable.
I would not recommend this place for a special dine-out, but in case you are a hotel guest and don't want to move around much, then this can be a reasonable bet.
