Instagram’s algorithm kept tempting me with Bombay Toast while I was in Pondicherry, so curiosity finally won. I visited the Indian Coffee House and ordered it and I’m glad I did. The taste instantly took me back to my childhood. It reminded me of what my mom used to feed me when I had a fever. Soft bread, mildly sweet, comforting. I guess it’s made by first roasting the bread and then soaking it in milk mixed with sugar for a while. Simple, warm, and full of nostalgia. What really stood out was the overall experience. The owner was warm and respectful, the service was pleasant, and the place was well maintained. Good food, good people, and a calm vibe. Definitely worth a visit when you’re around.
