Indian Coffee House in Kolkata is one of those iconic places that carries a sense of nostalgia and history. Located on the first floor, the restaurant is unfortunately not wheelchair-friendly, which can be inconvenient for some visitors. Once you step inside, you immediately feel the old-world charm – the large hall, simple wooden furniture, and the lively buzz of conversations give it a vintage vibe that is rare to find in today’s cafés. The menu is quite diverse, offering everything from tea and coffee to soups, chicken fry, fish fry, sandwiches, and more. The food is simple and affordable, making it a popular hangout spot for students, artists, and locals. I had gone there after seeing its mention in the Indian movie *Aap Jaisa Koi*, and it was interesting to finally experience the place in person. However, a few things were slightly disappointing. The ventilation is poor, which makes the place quite humid, especially if you are visiting in the afternoon. Another unpleasant experience was that two boys were smoking right next to our table, which disturbed our time there. It would be better if the management ensured a more comfortable environment for non-smokers. That said, for a first-time visit, it was an okay experience. The charm of the place lies more in its history and ambiance rather than modern comforts. If you want to soak in the heritage feel of Kolkata and enjoy a cup of coffee in an iconic setting, it’s worth a visit at least once.
